One fun and messy sensory experience for babies, toddlers, or preschoolers is playing withJell-O. In fact, any gelatin material will provide endless fun and sensory play for your child. Simply mix in some toys or fun new objects and you’ve got an exciting new activity for your little one.
I highly suggestthese finger crayons for the young ones. They are perfect for little hands and promote a good grasp when holding the crayons. If your child is not continuing to gain more words throughout the past few months, consult your pediatrician. Check back for updates as more information becomes available. We provide peace of mind to all of our families through comprehensive security and safety procedures and measures. That’s to protect the most important part of our school—your child.
Play Dress Up
These 2-year-olds practice coordinating and controlling large and small muscle movements, while they build an understanding of health and safety concepts. Kids create homes and habitats for stuffed animals with blocks. This helps them practice building, problem-solving, and playing pretend. Everything in our toddler classroom is designed for little explorers. When your child is wandering all over the place, that means they’re learning and discovering new things every day. Kids love sensory activities, and they also love playing in water.
To improve their motor skills, they could trace alphabets and numbers or engage in other object tracking activities. A classic approach to coloring will help your child learn about colors and drawing skills from a young age. Here are fun and educational activities that can keep your child engaged and explore them to new things. My toddler is often engaging in free-play toys that offer some opportunity to practice some pre-literacy skills.
An Easter egg water scoop activity will keep your 2-3 year old busy for awhile. Use Easter eggs to play a letter match game to help your child learn their uppercase and lowercase letters while having fun with a favorite – and cheap – toy. All you have to do is use a permanent marker to write an uppercase case or lowercase letter on either side of the egg.
The teacher draws faces that resemble different emotions on plastic eggs such as happy, sad, angry, etc. The eyes and nose are on the top half of the egg, the mouth on the bottom half. Building an understanding of the world around them, while they practice thinking critically and creatively. Twos participate in sensory explorations, simple science investigations, and creative expression. Children develop the ability to coordinate and combine large muscle movements. Kids take toy cars dipped in non-toxic paint and roll them over paper to create different patterns and textures.
Toddler classroom activities
Whatever piece you add to your Saxoflute gives it a different sound. Not only does this encourage experimental play, but it also teaches children about cause and effect. For a 2 year old, you will probably need to provide some assistance, but this also provides great opportunities to explore the world of sound together.
Great STEM Play
At KinderCare, we put safety first to protect our families and staff. This activity helps in advancing your toddler’s imagination and creativity. Simon Says is a simple game which keeps toddlers entertained for long, while teaching them to follow instructions. Their little hands and minds are so eager to dig into whatever materials they can find. Kids love finger painting, but not everyone wants to deal with the mess. Some days, I just want my kids to have fun without having to scrub up paint that ends up everywhere.
How Can Activities Support A Toddler’s Development?
Keeping your two to three year old busy is important; they are working on so many milestones! You want activities for 2-3 year olds that keep them out of trouble but also help them learn. One thing to consider is whether or not your child is comfortable being away from you. If they are content being with other people and enjoy going to new places, then they may be ready for early education. Additionally, they begin to understand concepts such as numbers and shapes. There is a lot of debate surrounding early education for 2-year-olds.
My daughter always asks me to do the activities in the binder. I created this 2 year old book list to be intentional about reading these books in particular. While I already had a good number of books at home, I wanted to be sure my 2 year old was being exposed to books that were appropriate for her age.
Of course they may not have perfected the skill yet, but the only way a child will learn these new skills is by doing it by themselves. You can help them to complete the task once they’ve already tried it on their own. At 2, your child should definitely get the concept of “reading” a book.
Puzzle or read through the whole book, before they get up and run around. My daughter loves to grab a puzzle and put in 3 pieces and walk away or sit down and read 2 pages and then walk away. A toddler has a very limited attention span (unless of course, they’re watching their favorite television show). It’s only reasonable to ask them to focus on a task for around 4-6 minutes at this age.
Toddlers (2-3 years of age)
The full alphabet and numbers are printed on blocks that spin. Toddlers are infinitely curious, and love to touch, play, move, and test boundaries. By this age, children are marking important developmental milestones, including trying to use buttons on toys and running or kicking a ball.
